Ecodure Bamboo Flooring

Beautiful bamboo flooring has become a hot trend over the last 5 years, being installed worldwide in fine hotels, retails outlets, galleries, workplaces and homes. Aesthetically it offers elegant clean lines, clarity of colour and a truly unique look. A range of designs, colours and plank widths are available to compliment any interior, from contemporary chic through to a more traditional classic style.

Bamboo is an astonishingly renewable resource – making it the flooring choice of today for tomorrow’s planet. Unlike traditional hardwoods, which can take 30-50 years to mature and are killed when felled, bamboo quickly sprouts again and grows back to full maturity in just 4-5 years. In fact, as a member of the grass family, bamboo thrives when it is regularly harvested.

Ecodure bamboo is grown in controlled plantations – and without any need for fertilisers or other chemicals. It loves poor and otherwise unproductive soils.

Bamboo has stood the test of time – having been used for thousands of years in construction. Increasing awareness of the eco-friendly qualities of bamboo (and its cost-effectiveness) has led to it being being used for a wide range of other premium natural products – from baby clothing to eco-conscious fashions.

It’s even “panda-friendly” – as pandas do not eat the MOSO species of bamboo that is used for bamboo flooring. Illicit logging and over-harvesting has devastated forests throughout South-East Asia – a major source of timber and timber products imported into New Zealand. It has been estimated that 95% of Asia’s frontier forests are gone. And as a consumer, it can be hard to know the origin of the timber you buy – but when you buy Ecodure you can have complete confidence in the product’s provenance.
