Solar Rib™ is brand new New Zealand developed and designed product which is capable of using the latest PVL (Photo Voltaic Laminate) panel technology to provide electricity from, and for residential, commercial and industrial applications, manufactured from either steel based or H36 grade aluminium material, has three 52mm high ribs with two wide pans and gives an impressive 1 metre wide cover, and is capable of working down to a 3 degree roof pitch. Solar panels can be added straight away during the installation of the roof or in the future, making your roof truly future-proof.
Solar Rib™ has been independently tested to AS4040 and can be drape curved to produce architectural roof shapes. With a spanning capability of up to 2 metres for roofing, the profile is capable of being used on any conventional long run roof or cladding project. Fixing the roofing sheets is as per standard using load spreading washers on standard roof purlins.
Solar Rib™ is technically just another cladding profile, but has the capability of having the latest PVL panels installed onto it. This is the only profile allowed to have laminates fixed to it without substrate support from underneath; other similar products using these systems require full substrate support.
When the PVL panels are used in conjunction with Solar Rib™, the system is capable of being used for grid connection or off-grid applications, and comply with AS 4777, AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS5033 standards, and a 20 year roof and power output warranty for new installations and water run-off from the roof is safe to be collected as potable (drinking) water.
This system provides pure “Green Energy” capable of being sold back to the national grid. If this is on your house, office, or batch it will produce electricity from dawn till dusk all year round, trickling back into the grid (collecting credits from your power supplier) or off-grid, back into the battery bank for use during night time. Surplus energy from off-grid installations can also be feed back into the nation grid. Even on cold, foggy or cloudy days the panels will be making energy; perfect for New Zealand weather conditions. The system is also capable of being used with any compatible source of power generation i.e. wind turbines, hydro schemes or petrol/diesel generators.
Calder Stewart Roofing Ltd Solar Rib™ is certain to become a more common sight on future proofed houses and buildings in general throughout New Zealand.
